All Troops and Command figures for the Advancing Shako'd and Grenadiers now in stock
At last I have received stock of the remaining Advancing Austrians in Shako and Grenadiers (both German and Hungarian types) including the Command figures. The caster was heavily backed up and so I have been impatiently awaiting this delivery.
This completes the plan for the Advancing series of Line troops in Helmets, Shako's and the Grenadiers.
See previous blogs for the pictures until I can update the individual pictures on the respective pages. (my main computer system is currently being repaired after receiving a jolt from a thunder storm here! - which is causing the delay).
Prices remain the same as for previous figures - although some price increases have been published by the caster.

Hinton Compatriots - Response to queries and thoughts on 'personality figures'
As you know this is more a labour of love than a business and so I am funding almost all this project myself - the number of folks actually buying figures would not justify the costs in a normal business case. I also have not cut corners on the sculpting - Andy Stadden is one of the finest figure sculptors around and the casters are noted for quality castings and the metal they use is of the highest standard.
I received a comment from Jay regarding the possibility of producing a few 'personality figures' - this was a good question and something I had been pondering already so I decided to take the answer to the blog and maybe also get some input.
Despite the inherent costs I have indeed considered a few 'personality figures' - even though not many would actually be produced since by definition they are unique and therefore not many required. I therefore had to concentrate on the figures that would be required in larger numbers to justify the cost of the sculpting and the mould making processes.
The 'frock coat' or Oberrock clad officer was an early identified and desirable pose (ANC10 Field Marshall is wearing one) as was a drummer with shoulder slung drum.
The additional difficulty with the Austrians is the need to produce two types for each figure - Hungarian and German - add to that the need for Helmet, Shako and Grenadier types and you see that the moulds multiple quickly.
I have commissioned and have a master for a fusilier that has no head and a hole in its neck together with three separate heads for the above types. The objective was to produce a figure and make it available with the three separate heads which would alleviate the need for different moulds. An additional head without any hat would be a simple addition to these.

Andy did a great job on this but we both felt that the final cast figure might not be as precise as the masters and might cause some problems with fitting for the end user - the heads and spigots are after all quite small.
I also have masters for a drum and a musket for conversion of these figures (and others).

So you see that although I would very much like to produce some personality figures I am not sure I can justify them yet. The question is what do other folks think - what figures - besides an Officer with Oberrock and a Drummer with a shoulder slung drum and a bare headed Fusilier - would be nice to have.
What do folks think about figures with separate heads and how many folks would buy the 'personality figures' any if say they were in a pack of about four?
And finally would you be prepared to pay extra for them?
Besides this I have several conversions already of various Hinton/Clayton/DK figures and I am going to make masters of them for my own use - again I will make them available to others - but you must understand it's a grey area when you convert a figure to which you do not have rights to! However unless somebody steps forward after all these years and claims the rights to my converted figures then I will proceed.
Examples are:
French Line Horse artillery, Bavarian Drummer, Ensign and Pioneer, French Line Drummer with slung Drum, and other figures that are difficult or impossible to get etc.
I welcome, encourage and look forward to your comments!

Hinton Compatriots - First look at the Austrian Mounted Infantry Officers

Prototype for Hinton Compatible ANC02 Hungarian Infantry Colonel in Helmet
Andy Stadden never ceases to amaze me - this prototype looks marvelous! albeit modifications and improvements are ongoing.
The Austrian Mounted Officers will consist of:
ANC01 - Infantry Colonel (German) in Helmet
ANC02 - Infantry Colonel (Hungarian) in Helmet
ANC03 - Infantry Colonel (German) in Shako
ANC04 - Infantry Colonel (Hungarian) in Shako
ANC05 - Infantry Colonel (German) in Grenadier Fur Hat
ANC06 - Infantry Colonel (Hungarian)in Grenadier Fur Hat
ANC07 - Staff Officer (German) in Bicourne (worn front to back)
ANC08 - Staff Officer (Hungarian) in Bicourne Hat (worn front to back)
ANC09 - General in Bicourne Hat (worn Left to right)and wearing short coat
ANC10 - Field Marshall in Bicourne Hat (Worn left to right) in Parade Uniform
ANC11 - ADC in Tall Plumed Bicourne Hat (worn front to back) wearing a sash and with dispatch
ANC12 - ADC in Tall Plumed Bicourne Hat (worn front to back) wearing a sash Galloping with dispatch
The final decision was to have the rider and saddlery together and the horse separate despite my earlier concerns about the two parts not fitting together to well. However Andy assured me they would! Looking at the prototype I guess he is right!
This allows us to have several different horses to choose and it is more efficient. The final horses will have a base attached. The riders poses will all be different.
I an very excited and personally can't wait to get my hands on these figures.

The first in the series are Austrian Napoleonic Line Infantry Musketeers in Helmets - Advancing.
First two series are German and Hungarian types. Each series consists of 2 Officer poses, Ensign, Drummer, 2 Pioneer poses, 1 NCO and 1 Private for a total of 8 figures for each series.

Pricing reflects the relatively short production runs and smaller market versus costs.
I have had to change my original policy of allowing single figures and any mix to be ordered since I have received all sorts of lopsided orders - example 20 Pioneers! This was not contemplated and the molds were set up for a more balance production.
Cavalry/Mounted Figure pricing will be announced as soon as all costs are in.
See various figure images in previous posts.

Hinton Compatriots - Additional masters now ready for the Austrians in helmets

The final two poses for the Austrian Napoleonic in Helmets - Advancing (German Troops)are now completed.
These are the alternate Officer and the alternate Pioneer. This will make a total of eight figures for this (German) series.
The equivalent eight figures for the Hungarian types will be ready next week - then they all go to the caster. I will have final pricing and availability a few days after that.
I am getting excited. I am also planning on mounted officers next to make it possible to build complete German and Hungarian infantry units in helmets (Advancing).

New 'Hinton Compatriots' - Austrian Napoleonic Infantry in Helmets
I am pleased to show below the first figure masters of my new Hinton Hunt Compatible Napoleonic Range. The range has been named 'Hinton Compatriots' to signify the compatibility with that range.
The first set of six figures comprises: Fusilier, NCO, Drummer, Pioneer, Officer and Ensign of the Austrian (German Regts) in Helmets. The final flag carried by the Ensign will be engraved with the Austrian 1792 Ordinarstandarte.

The figures are designed and sculptured by A.C.Stadden and are the exact same scale as Hinton Hunt. See below comparison of new fusilier to Hinton Hunt Austrians:

My objective with the range is to make available to myself (and anybody else that is interested) a selection of figures of different nationalities that are Hinton compatible and help fill the many gaps that now exists since the Hinton Hunt range is now defunct and any available figures are scarce, poor quality and expensive.
The next series will be as above but Hungarian regiments in Helmets - Advancing to compliment the first series. The production plan includes Grenadiers, Jagers, Mounted Officers and Cavalry, Artillery Crew and Guns/Limbers. The Infantry will also be produced in a Charging, Marching and Firing series. I am also considering doing later infantry with shako's subject to demand to complete the Austrians.
Each series will include all the elements of the battalion as the first does.
Other nationalities are also being planned - Including British in Stovepipes and Early French. I am open to suggestions and requests however.
Anybody interested please contact me with requests, commitments, orders etc. I will be able to set pricing when all the bills are in! I should state that I do not wish this to be a full blown money making business and I am planning just to recover costs with pricing.
I also may only be offering in battalion sets at first since the molds will be set up that way.
I currently expect the first set of figures to be available in about 3 weeks.
Update new images received: Preproduction German Grenadier Advancing and Master for Ensign with engraved flag

In response to why not same base size as Hinton - Sculptor thinks (and I) agree the small square base restricts the pose animation and results in some unrealistic stances (Can you say oops - soiled breeches again!). Attempting to round off new base from square was unsightly - thus the base we use.
And yes that's an officer master for the 'shako' range being contemplated.
